Abu Dhabi Golf Club is described as an oasis of tranquillity carved out of the desert, and it lives up to that reputation. Located a short drive from Abu Dhabi’s modern skyline, the club features a striking clubhouse shaped like a falcon in flight, embodying the region’s blend of ancient mystique and contemporary style.
Designed by Peter Harradine in 1998, the club boasts 27 holes, with The National being the championship course that hosts the annual Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. Inaugurated in 2006, the tournament has seen various winners, including Chris Dimarco, Paul Casey, and Martin Kaymer, who triumphed three times in four years.
The National course is recognized for its challenging layout, stretching 7,600 yards from the tips, which may be daunting for the average golfer. The course features saltwater lakes, lush landscaping, and strategic bunkering, creating a visually stunning and challenging experience, with nine holes incorporating water hazards. Players are advised to bring extra golf balls!
