Al Zorah Golf Club

Overview

Unveiled at the end of 2015, the 18-hole layout at Al Zorah Golf Club was the first golf course to open in the United Arab Emirates for more than six years. The course, designed by Nicklaus Design, was officially opened by the Ruler of Ajman, Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaima, exactly two years after construction began.

Set within a natural mangrove landscape, the course features 1.5 kilometres of boardwalks to manage the rising and falling water levels affecting some tidal fairways. When the tide is low, players may find opportunities to recover from the wet sand if their ball strays into a “mangrove recess.”

Lakes are also prominent on the course, particularly at the par-three 2nd hole. The back nine presents a challenging stretch, with the par-four 13th hole rated stroke index 2 for good reason. Although it lacks greenside bunkers, water hazards run alongside the left side of the fairway, posing a significant threat from tee to green.
