Brora Golf Club

Overview

Brora Golf Club is located just off the A9, about 20 miles north of Dornoch, and offers a scenic drive along the East Coast of Sutherland. The journey takes you past the stunning Loch Fleet and through the Highland village of Golspie, where another fine course awaits. Enjoy glimpses of Dunrobin Castle and coastal views before arriving in Brora.

While Scotland boasts many famous links courses, Brora remains a hidden gem deserving of exploration. Founded in 1891, the club initially featured a nine-hole layout, later expanded to 18 holes by John Sutherland and redesigned by James Braid in 1923. The course is uniquely positioned along the North Sea, providing stunning vistas without dunes to obstruct the view.

Measuring 6,211 yards, Brora may not be a championship course, but its challenging greens and breathtaking scenery make it memorable. The iconic 9th hole, the “Sea Hole,” features the North Sea as a striking hazard. Don’t miss Brora when visiting Royal Dornoch—it’s an experience you won’t regret.
