Opened in 2001, the 18-hole Los Flamingos course is a central feature of the prestigious Villa Padierna estate just outside Marbella. It stands out as the flagship among three 18-hole layouts at the resort, alongside the shorter Tremores and the challenging Alferini courses. Renowned for its high quality and luxurious amenities, Los Flamingos has been a favoured venue, hosting numerous European Seniors Match-Play Championships with more such prestigious events planned for the future.
The course boasts Bermuda grass on most fairways, while tees and greens are surfaced with Pencross, and Marmolina sand lines the bunkers. The front nine holes are notably tighter than the back nine, and three of the five par threes are situated on the outward half. Notably, the 8th hole was originally designed as a short par four, adding strategic variety to the course layout.
Designed in the style of a Tuscan villa garden, Los Flamingos features an array of cypress, orange, olive, and pine trees, with tranquil streams flowing into picturesque lakes. Enhancing its charm are classic columns, statues, and marble bridges, creating a distinct aesthetic that, while not universally appealing, is complemented by stunning vistas of the Mediterranean Sea.
