Royal Norwich Golf Club

Overview

Royal Norwich Golf Club, founded on November 8, 1893, received its royal title the next day from The Duke of York, later King George V. Initially located in Hellesdon, near Norwich, the course was later modified by architect James Braid in 1924 when more land became available.

Urban development eventually made the original course challenging to navigate, prompting the club to sell the property and relocate to the former Weston Park Golf Club. In September 2019, the new 24-hole complex opened, designed by European Golf Design and constructed by MJ Abbott. Ian Poulter inaugurated the new course, featuring an 18-hole layout with two returning nines, stretching up to 7,209 yards from the back tees and playing to a par of 73.

Notable holes include the par-three 4th with its sand-protected, offset green and the 446-yard dogleg-right 6th. On the back nine, the 12th stands out as a 608-yard par five that bends left, while the closing hole demands precision, requiring three well-placed shots to reach a green guarded by bunkers.

Royal Norwich seamlessly blends its rich history with a modern design, offering an exceptional golfing experience for players of all levels.
