Troon North
Golf Club (Pinnacle)

Overview

Tom Weiskopf owes a debt to several entities, including the Scottsdale Resort, which commissioned him and partner Jay Morrish to design 36 holes, and Royal Troon, where he secured his only major victory.

At Troon North, Weiskopf paid homage to Royal Troon’s famous “Postage Stamp” hole with the creation of the “Post Card” hole, situated at No. 16 on their Pinnacle course. While larger than its namesake, missing the green here can lead to trouble, with water, planted vegetation, and large bunkers posing threats. This hole stands out as an exception on the Pinnacle course.

Similar to its predecessor, the Monument course, which was built five years prior, Pinnacle showcases a desert aesthetic with prevalent waste areas and sandy washes. The signature hole, No. 10, demands a carry over such terrain, leading to a green nestled at the base of a small geological rise. Residents of homes dotting this rise and other areas around the course enjoy some of Scottsdale‘s finest views.
