Aloha Golf Club

Overview

Club de Golf Aloha, situated in southern Spain, has stood as a prominent Spanish golf course since its establishment in 1975 amid the burgeoning golf development era. Designed by Javier Arana with contributions from Enrique Canales following Arana’s untimely passing, Aloha spans 6,900 yards with a par of 72, challenging players with its hilly terrain and strategic water hazards.

The course opens with formidable long par fives on both halves, complemented by demanding par fours and lengthy par threes, none shorter than 195 yards. Highlight holes include the controversial par four 7th and the challenging water-guarded 18th. Aloha has hosted several editions of the Andalucia Open, showcasing its tournament calibre and demanding layout.

Arana’s design philosophy utilised the natural landscape, incorporating lakes due to the area’s limited water sources. The greens, notable for their size and complexity, feature multiple tiers and intricate contours that challenge even the best putters. Recently, a green renovation project led by Lobb + Partners has enhanced playability without compromising strategic integrity, ensuring Aloha Golf Club remains a premier destination for golf enthusiasts.
