The Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, designed by Greg Norman, debuted as the centrepiece of Dubai’s DP World Tour Championship and Norman’s first course design in the UAE. Developed by Leisurecorp, Jumeirah Golf Estates aims to be a premier golf destination within a luxury residential community, with Fire, Earth, Water, and Wind as its planned courses. Although only Fire and Earth were completed, Earth achieved immediate acclaim when it hosted the inaugural Dubai World Championship in 2009.
At over 7,700 yards, the Earth Course is a formidable challenge. Its defining stretch—the last four holes, known as “the most challenging mile in golf”—was a thrilling stage for historic performances, from Lee Westwood’s 2009 victory to Rory McIlroy’s 2012 money-list double.
The Earth Course remains the flagship, hosting the DP World Tour Championship each year. Since its debut, winners like Jon Rahm, Henrik Stenson, and Collin Morikawa have solidified the course’s legacy as a stage for elite competition, and it stands as a highlight in Dubai’s vibrant golf scene.
