Perranporth Golf Club

Overview

Perranporth Golf Club, situated on the stunning North Cornwall coastline, is a hidden gem in Poldark country. Designed by the legendary James Braid in 1927, this natural links course has remained largely unchanged, preserving its classic layout. The high ground location offers breathtaking views across Perran Bay, where the sandy shores meet the sparkling Atlantic Ocean.

Known for its challenging play, Perranporth is not for the faint-hearted, particularly if you dislike blind shots. With seven blind drives and several semi-blind approaches, this course demands precision and strategy. Its unique, undulating terrain creates a “lunar” landscape, where holes twist and turn through towering dunes, making for a thrilling and engaging experience.

The course, measuring 6,252 yards with a par of 72, may not be the longest, but its firm greens and raised plateaux ensure that every shot tests even the most skilled golfers. Sloping lies and tricky approaches require balance and finesse, rewarding those who take on its challenges.

Despite being underrated, Perranporth stands proudly among other Southwest gems like St Enodoc and Trevose. With its welcoming atmosphere, excellent value, and remarkable views, Perranporth Golf Club offers a truly memorable experience for all serious golfers.
