We-Ko-Pa Golf Club (Saguaro)

Overview

Located northeast of Scottsdale, We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is situated on land developed by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, offering golfers two acclaimed 18-hole courses: Cholla, opened in 2002, and Saguaro, unveiled in 2006.

Saguaro, designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, stands out for its integration with the natural desert terrain. The course features wide fairways and large, undulating greens, challenging players with strategic bunkering and natural washes that come into play throughout the round. The layout emphasises shot placement and creativity, rewarding those who can navigate the unique desert landscape effectively.

Three of the par fives on Saguaro—holes 4, 8, and 14—are particularly noted for their difficulty, each ranked as stroke index 1, 3, and 2 respectively. These holes require precision and length to navigate the challenging terrain and achieve favourable scores.

Furthermore, the course’s fourth par three is renowned for its length and difficulty, especially from the back tees, adding to the overall challenge and strategic variety of the course.

We-Ko-Pa Saguaro offers golfers not only a challenging round but also a scenic experience amidst untouched desert scenery, with breathtaking views of iconic Arizona landscapes like Red Mountain and the Superstition Mountains.
